Forum Post: Inventory valuation

Hello,

I have an item where I cannot seem to identify how the cost valuation got affected. The item I have setup is a sale inventory item with FIFO perpetual. All of our sales transactions and purchasing transactions for the item have been between the ranges of 65 to 80 dollars for the year 2011 - 2013. This was an new item setup in 2011.

When I ran the Historical Stock Status report as of 12/31/2011, the cost valuation provided an unit cost of 65 dollars.

However, when I ran it for 12/31/2012, the valuation I got provided a unit cost of 195 dollars.

In looking at the detail transactions on that report, I cannot see any transactions that could have affected the unit cost to be near 195 dollars. As mentioned, all transactions averaged between 65 to 80 dollars.

I looked at other windows in GP including the Adjust Cost Utilities and it all showed 65 to 80 dollars for all in and out transactions.

What can you recommend for me to see how and why the unit cost valuation for 12/31/2012 got affected to be 195 dollars when none of my transaction amounts came that close?

Thanks
