Forum Post: RE: Connector - A few questions

Well, I very much appreciate you taking the time to try and explain this to me. I've spent the last few hours looking over the SDK info again and trying to work through the sample code... I still have no idea how any of this stuff comes together. While I'm an experienced programmer, Visual Studio and C# have never been tools I've had to use.

So, I have samples... Of what? Standalone applications? The docs keep referring to them as custom modules, but the three samples I'm looking at all look like standalone apps. So, I'm building another custom application outside of connector? Wha?

It would most likely be easier and faster to do this as straight SQL queries in a language and environment I know.

And while I appreciate your help, I'm really more than a little angry right now. One of the main factors that made us choose Dynamics over Salesforce was the integration with GP. I even remember the sales guy giving his spiel about how you'd have to write code with Salesforce... Dynamics has Connector. NO CODE TO WRITE! They create the expectation in my bosses mind, which puts the demand on me.

Honestly, I think I'm going to drop Dynamics and go to Salesforce. I'm not on a quest to write custom modules, I'm just trying to get aging information to come over. To be generous, it might take me a week to figure out how to write these custom modules. I could configure a different CRM in that amount of time. I'll have to debate it over the weekend. It might not be that bad if I just do a select * from RM00103 where LASTAGED > LastRun and then use the REST endpoint to pump data into CRM.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to try and help. I'm going to mark this as answered.
