Forum Post: RE: How to report entire journal entry

Since you need information from several tables and there may be 2 or more entries in the distributions, you cannot use SmartList Builder successfully.  I would suggest SSRS.

As for accounts, if you are working with an open year, you would start with GL20000.  If historical, the GL30000.  Use the journal numbers to determine the source of the transaction and drill back to the modules.  You will need to build views to combine open and history.  For example, in receivables, there may be some payments that partially pay an invoice that are still in the open table while others have been moved to the history tables.

Then there are questions about how far back do you want the report to drill?  Just to the receivable entry? Or on to the invoice?

I would suggest getting together with your partner on this one.  It is an aggressive report.

You can also reference our Information Flow and Posting book for more information on which tables hold which data.  It is available on our web site or via Amazon.com
