This might be a stretch but I also had a similiar issue. When a customer selected Debit Memo they would crash. The solution was easy but not easy to find. In the Setup>Sales>Receivables>Options the document number for the debit memo was originally setup as Debit01 (no leading zeros). After they had entered a 99 Debit Documents over the last 5 years, it got to Debit00. When they selected the next Debit Memo, it wanted to default to Debit01 but that number had already been used. At that time it would crash (no error message). I ended up changing the next number to have 2 leading zeros (I should be retired by the time they reach 9999 debit memos!). I have also seen this in other fields where numbers automatically rollover like next check number (go from 9999 to 0000 instead of 10000). Hope this helps.
