I think I know what you're saying because I applied the same logic to a different report where I shaded only one column in the report. In that column, the heading and total rows don't show up as shaded because I've formatted them to be bold in the row format.
But the million dollar question becomes, "How can I clear whatever formatting I have in the row format so the column format will take precedence?". The row format is using the default font and nothing more. I've already highlighted the whole row format and re-selected "Default" just for good measure, but it seems to think that there is some special formatting there even though I don't think there is.
Does this make any sense?
