We are in GP 2013 version 2. Normally when I create a payables batch, if the transaction totals don't equal the control totals, the batch status would say "unequal . . ." and the batch would not allow posting. We recently got a new Controller and Accounting Administrator, and somebody seems to have turned off that control. Now unequal batches show as "available" and I am able to post them out of balance. Not good! I'm sure this is an easy fix. If someone can point me to right menu chain, I can tell my new Administrator to look there. Unfortunately, I do not have administrator privileges, or I could fish around myself. Thanks for your help!

You need to be able to get to Tools->Setup->Posting->Posting. If you do not have access to this screen you will need to find someone who does.

Hey All, We have a new company in GP 2015 and attempting to 1) start with a fresh segment(s) or 2) import from another company format. Here is the question if I delete all accounts from Financial Account Card, and remove segments, the account format is unchanged? The ending Segment 1 with 4 and Segment 2 with 2 codes is what we are looking for, XXXX-XX not the X-XXXX-XX. Are these self-only employees assigned to a different health insurance plan code in GP (ie, they're assigned to 'employee only' plan, while employees with dependents are assigned to 'employee plus family' plan)? Is it possible that the ACA settings for that one code are just incomplete?

Hello fellow GP experts, I have an issue with Navigation List preview pane appearing as HTML code instead of the normal data that should show. There are end users accessing GP with a remote application and it appears fine, but when you access GP on the server, it shows as HTML. Any thoughts?

Hi Chris, thanks for commenting. Yes, these employees are assigned to a different code but we have confirmed the ACA settings are complete.

Hello, We have tax setup with negative percentage, when printing the SOP Invoice including tax details the report shows all tax lines including the negative one, however when printing the RM Blank Document report - Receivables setup "Print Tax Details on Document" is selected - only normal tax amounts show on report, any negative taxes not printing, what might be the cause? Thanks

It turns out the notes I'm dealing with do not simply have carriage returns, they have carriage returns followed by line feeds. Tim Wappat kindly provided a method by which a person can determine what hidden characters exist in a note field in this blog post : http://www.timwappat.info/post/2016/01/07/Find-carriage-return-(cr)-and-line-feed-(lf)-in-NOTES-fields-of-Dynamics-GP That method revealed that the notes looked like this: DIRECT SHIP[cr][lf]C\O Chad Bruels[cr][lf].... [cr] = carriage return [lf] = line feed The next step was determining whether using just one of these allowed the RW_GetNoteText method described in the Musgrave/Gomez solution to be successful. Again, Tim was helpful in providing this : http://www.timwappat.info/post/2013/09/10/Formatting-notes-using-GP-econnect I modified his replace() function to substitute each [lf] with a blank space, leaving my note formatted like this: DIRECT SHIP[cr]C\O Chad Bruels[cr].... This note now worked with the Gomez/Musgrave Report Writer technique. I was creating these notes from a GP Add-in coded in C# using Environment.NewLine to format my note. Armed with the knowledge above, I replaced these simply with "\r" to create the note only with the [cr] carriage returns. Thanks also to Steve Endow for a blog post that got me thinking I should be able to reveal the hidden characters in the note and for reaching out to Tim Wappat for further assistance knowing he had tackled this before.

Good afternoon, I'm having an issue with the Smartlist 1099 reports. None of them are picking up the correct amounts/vendors for the 2015 1099 amounts. When I look at the cards, I see the correct information, but I can't get it to pick up correctly on the reports. I've tried running reconcile/calendar year for all (including 1099's) but it didn't make a difference. Thoughts anyone? Thank you. Lisa

I can access the window, as SA, but unclear how this is completed. I can change the Segments name but there is no "delete" that i can see.
