Forum Post: RE: Discrepancy between Inventory Items and Balance Sheet
Hi If this is an ongoing issue, it may be worth looking at 'The Closer' from Reporting Central reporting-central.com/the-closer I looked at this product for another client a while back and it looks really good. That client decided against spending for it, but for me it seems like a no brainer spend. I have seen it highly recommended lots of times. (And no, I am not on commission :-) ) Cheers Heather

Forum Post: RE: GP 2010 setup Employee HealthCare Benefit to be 50% of total Premium
Let me ask this another way: Is there "any" version of GP or combination of Modules that will allow us to input one Healthcare Annual Premium amount per EE, and then have a 50% Deduction for the EE and a 50% Benefit covered by the Employer?

Forum Post: Currency Translation for Consolidated Reporting
Hello: For Management Reporter 2012, I have been told that the one way of conducting Currency Translation for Consolidated Reporting is to have the Column Definition contain the company in the "Reporting Unit" field and the applicable currency in the "Currency Source" field. The only concern that I have about this approach is that you could conceivably have dozens of columns, if you have many companies in GP each with multiple currencies. Is there an alternative? Thank you, so much! John

Forum Post: Fixed Assets entry duplication in GP
Hi, I entered assets in GP and ran depreciation (for Dec '15) but later found out that these assets were already entered by someone last month (Nov '15) using different class IDs and asset numbers. So the fixed asset clearing account is not cleared now due to a balance after the depreciation was run and posted. Please note that the assets I entered were saved using the right numbering convention. Now I have to take off the assets entered in the previous month and re-run the depreciation. Can someone help with the correct course of action? Kindly advise?

Forum Post: FRx - Print Negative Balances in Red
Hi All, I have a what seems to be an easy question, but I've been spinning in circles. I have a report that has account lines where the account description prints in red. We do not want to see the account description in Red. Therefore, I went into the Report Options and unchecked print red for negative numbers. This fixed the account description, but of course, now the negative amounts are printing in black. Does anyone know how I can get account descriptions to always print in black and only have negative balances print in Red? The account descriptions printing in Red do not even have GL accounts associated with them. It is odd, but the report requires this. Thanks, Steve

Forum Post: Consolidated Cash Flow Statement with Row Modifier
Hello All, I'm currently working on a consolidated cash flow statement and running into an issue with the row modifier. When I created my non-consolidated cash flow statement, I used the row modifier to bring in the beginning balance for cash and that method worked perfectly. When I tried this method with two financial dimension sets for my consolidation, (one for the parent and one for the subsidiary), the row modifier only changed the first financial dimension. The second financial dimension set ignored the row modifier and brought in the column definition. Does anybody know why the row modifier won't affect 2nd financial dimension? Regards.

Forum Post: RE: ASM transaction entered in wrong year
You are most welcome, Although, just keep in mind that there is still some place for automated solutions, like creating an SQL script that retrieves the original assembly transaction and export a macro code to create several corrective adjustments.

Verify that the Fonts are the same in the column headers and that the Fonts exist on the current system and the system that the MR services are running on. - Try changing all of the Header fonts to 'Microsoft Sans Serif', by highlighting all Header rows and updating, to validate if it is a Font issue or not

Forum Post: GP 2015 - Smartlist not opening
Hello, We have one end-user that is not able to open the Smartlist window. An administrator can use the affected user's GP instance and it opens just fine. If the affected user goes on another PC where Smartlist works for others, it still does not open. Upon clicking the Smartlist icon (in both the menu, and also the shortcut), it simply greys out and nothing happens. It does not show up in Task Manager, so that tells me it's not hidden, as other forum posts have mentioned. I followed all the advice in the following link, to no avail: https://community.dynamics.com/gp/f/32/t/121034 I've tried the SQL fix mentioned here as well: https://community.dynamics.com/gp/f/32/t/150929 Any other ideas from anyone? Thanks!

Blog Post: Different Battle, Different Lightsaber … Inventory in Dynamics GP
Click to View the Video--the Inventory Management Force! What is the weapon of choice of the inventory Jedi? Once you immerse yourself in the functionality of an enterprise software product like Microsoft Dynamics ® GP, the process and ways of thinking of this system become second nature. We may develop a spiritual connection to the way of this software package ... and will allow these processes to inform us, guide us and flow through us. Much the way that an order of spiritual warriors featured in a certain series of blockbuster movies may use an energy field that flows through all living things. So the true Jedi know there is a single Life Force moving through our inventory in Dynamics GP, and we allow that force to move in us, and through us, and direct our actions. Because PanatrackerGP extends this underlying functionality in Dynamics GP, it can not only give you one version of the truth. But the same Force flows through both systems ... the same thinking and the same processes. This is one more reason that it makes a lot more sense to select a warehouse management system (WMS) that extends Dynamics GP than one that bolts onto the outside, with its own underlying philosophy, process flows and database. If you are not careful, selecting this standalone system can result in a fierce battle between competing cosmic forces, with your inventory and assets hanging in the balance. Find out more about why it makes sense to select WMS software that extends Dynamics GP with this free Executive Brief from Panatrack . Forum Post: Fixed Asset Import and Depreciation
Multiple assets were entered manually after which I used the Fixed Asset Import utility to import Book information. YTD and LTD balances were imported through Nov 2015 and the depreciated to date was imported as 1130/15. I processed depreciation for prior years through 11/30/15. I then attempted to depreciate the Dec 2015 only. It appears to process but when I go through the GL Posting routine I receive a message that 'There are no transactions matching these restrictions'. The records in FA00904 show 4 entries for each asset all related to the prior period depreciation; 2 debits and 2 credits resulting in net depreciation of zero. The only thing that I see that could be an issue is none of the asset cards have a Yearly Depreciation Rate. Any help appreciated.

Forum Post: Need to retire a fixed asset but have already ran and posted depreciation.
Upon year-end review, we've noticed that we have a fixed asset on our books that needs to be retired this month as it's no longer in use. The issue is that we've already ran and posted depreciation for the month (have not closed the FA module or GP for 2015 yet). The asset still has a NBV as well. My initial thought is that we can just retire the fixed asset as of 12/31/15, run depreciation for the one asset, then do the fixed asset general ledger posting process. My worry is that the FA GL posting process will repost depreciation for ALL assets instead of the one that I would have just retired. I'm not totally familiar with how the FA GL Posting process works. Also, do we need to undo depreciation for December and then retire the asset or can we just retire, then re-run depreciation on that asset, then post to GL? What's the best way to go about this? Thanks, Nick
